“Even God has a history”
The study is an effort to show how humans from earliest history had a vague but inborn awareness of 'connectedness' with ‘higher powers’.
This awareness found concrete expressions in the God of monotheism, while the idea of God was looked at with a critical eye by philosophers over the centuries.
Mystics always experienced the ‘divine’ within.
The overview shows how 'God received a history' in the development of the human concept of God.
The study is primarily based on the works of Karen Armstrong. (see Bibliography)
