Hi! I'm Gerard Smit - call me Gerry, - and I'm teaching at the Academy (-> Academy), Osher Lifelong Learning Institute - Univ. of Del. 

This website has been set up to keep a close contact going between myself and the students, as well as former students and friends who are/remain interested in the courses I'm offering. It has become a place for me to share my vision and further insights, and to receive comments from those who visit the website.
 

Though many have sent me words of compliment and acclaim, the core value of 'Rootseeker' is not in its looks, and even its content,  but in the way it is being used by the students, just as their participation in class enriches my teaching.  Please, receive my thanks and appreciation.

The purpose and core of the website is in the "Weekly Notes" of the different courses. Anyone interested to keep in contact with my teaching just visit these 'notes' (published on Sat.) which may lead to 'Handouts' and other links if made available that weekend. It cost little time but can become a learning tool.
